. . . was a huge success! As those of you fortunate enough to have attended know, the 11 May inaugural presentation of the All Saints’ Outreach Commission’s Small Bites for Big Hunger was a sold-out event, featuring six local chefs offering their delicious signature hors d’oeuvres, paired with wine from five local wineries. We raised additional funds by holding a ninety-seven-item silent auction and a seven-item live auction. After paying expenses, we cleared $22,000, all of which is being used to fund our local food ministries: food bags distributed daily from the All Saints’ office; larger boxes at Easter and Christmas; monthly I-HELP dinners; support of the Thomas Carmen Food Pantry in Marina; support to Epiphany Lutheran & Episcopal Church for food; support of All Saints’ Day School’s bean bag program; and development of the new All Saints’ prepared/hot meal program, scheduled to start in the fall.

The Outreach Commission thanks all the volunteers, event attendees (all but $10 of your ticket price is tax-deductible), auction item donors, and financial sponsors of this event. Collectively, we more than achieved our goal to bring together the time and talent of the community for the most worthy goal of feeding the hungry. Blessings to each of you! Look for the second annual Small Bites for Big Hunger on Friday, 3 May 2013.
