We have arranged three workshops on Saturday, August 25, at All Saints’ in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The training sessions are described below. Please register for each session as required by the nature of your ministry and/or your staff role.
Safeguarding God’s Children teaches participants how to achieve healthy ministry relationships while maintaining boundaries that protect our children and youth from child abuse and protect our ministry leaders from false allegations. This training is required for anyone who works directly with or around children and youth.
Time: 9:00 a.m. – noon
Safeguarding God’s People from Sexual Exploitation is designed for those who have a pastoral relationship with other adults, i.e. clergy, staff, Eucharistic visitors, Stephen Ministers, and Bible study instructors. We also invite vestry and HR committee members to attend, as they are responsible for implementing and monitoring the guidelines.
Time: 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Safeguarding God’s People from Sexual Harassment is designed for employees of the church, and particularly for those who supervise others. This certificate is required by the State of California and must be renewed every two years.
Time: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
After successful completion of one or more of these training sessions, you will receive a three-year certificate of completion that will be recorded in the diocesan database and in our church office records. Please note that re-certification is also required every three (3) years and may be accomplished by attending this workshop or by completing the online Safeguarding modules.
The Rev. Kathleen Crowe, the diocesan trainer, is a deacon in the Diocese of El Camino Real. Her base of ministry is at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Campbell, California. In addition to her parish and diocesan work, she also has a contract with the Santa Clara County Department of Juvenile Probation, providing community service opportunities for at-risk youth who are first-time offenders.
