The Father Farmer Scholarship Dinner, to be held February 10 at 6:00 p.m. in Seccombe Hall, is sponsored by All Saints’ Church for the purpose of raising money for the All Saints’ Episcopal Day School scholarship fund. Individual tickets for a delicious meal of barbecued salmon and spareribs cost $25, and tables for eight may be purchased at the reduced price of $175. As you enjoy the meal, you can enjoy the additional satisfaction of knowing that you have donated $15 to the scholarship fund. A basket will be available for collecting additional donations, but no auction or other method of fundraising will be included in the evening’s events.

Fr. Farmer served as the associate priest at All Saints’ Church under Fr. Hill. When the rector and vestry voted to start a school, Fr. Hill asked Fr. Farmer to serve as its first head. Both Fr. Farmer and his wife, Bev, were founding members of the school, and each asserted important positive influences to launch All Saints’ Episcopal Day School toward the excellence it now enjoys. In keeping with its mission and values, the school seeks diversity within the student body, including economic diversity. Of the 222 students currently enrolled at the school, 78 (35%) receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $16,000. Dennis Sharp will be the honored guest at the dinner. He will tell stories of his years building relationships between the school and the church. Dennis recently retired as vestry liaison to the school after twenty-nine years of actively supporting this important mission of All Saints’. Students will be providing entertainment and waiting on tables.
