Come with your family and friends to Big Sur on July 11 for another hike with Mother Cynthia. The Limekiln trails are fairly level and easy. Arrange your own carpool and/or meet the others at Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground in Big Sur. If you plan to come, please RSVP to Mother Cynthia at email@example.com.
Destination: Limekiln State Park (about an hour south of Carmel on Highway One)
Date: Thursday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. to noon
Departure: 9:00 a.m. at Santa Lucia Mission, Big Sur
(the trip to Limekiln is 30 minutes from Santa Lucia Mission)
Directions: Drive 25 miles south from Carmel on Highway One, pass the River Inn, and take the first road on the right. Make a hairpin turn, drive past the Big Sur Health Center (within 100 yards), and turn left on the unpaved road. You will see hikers gathering with Mother Cynthia outside her home.
As usual, wear layered clothes and hiking shoes or sturdy walking shoes. There are three 1.5-mile trails. We can go on one, or all three. Some trails have gentle hills, but none are difficult. One of the trails takes us to the beach, another to the kilns, and another to a hundred-foot waterfall. This is a lovely place, so bring your camera, or a sketch pad if you prefer to draw or write poetry.
After the hike you are welcome to join Mother Cynthia for lunch at The Maiden in Big Sur. It’s the local pub that is next door to the River Inn, just north of All Saints’ Santa Lucia Campground and Chapel.
