A sacred space for spiritual transformation in Christ
Vestry Meeting Summary (May 1, 2014)
Items covered during this vestry meeting included the need to fill the vacant posts on the vestry. It was agreed that the vestry would like to encourage more representation from all three Sunday services.
Building and Grounds reported on the recommendations of the fire marshal’s inspection, repairs to the chalet, and other building maintenance issues.
The finance committee reported on a shortfall in the income of the church; it recommended a mid-year pledge campaign. It also suggested the vestry refrain from filling the open position of youth leader.
However, the vestry felt finding a youth minister is a priority. Furthermore, while finding a suitable candidate is often very difficult, the parish is blessed to already have such a person at hand. Last, the vestry agreed to launch a mid-year pledge campaign.
The search for the three part-time positions (Parish Administrator, Communication Coordinator, and Santa Lucia Camp Host) is still underway, and there are no clear candidates available. Consequently, it was decided to offer the youth leader position to the current candidate and temporarily forgo the staffing of a part-time communications coordinator. In lieu, the vestry minimized the hours and will utilize the current independent contractor already engaged for communication projects. The vestry will also look to other members of our parish who are able and willing to assist Joshua Green, who is already giving his vast experience, time, and expertise, with maintenance of the church website and computer network.
The vestry expressed many thanks to Susan and Don Britton and Ed Fink for planning and executing the Parish Picnic held at Santa Lucia on May 10.
Discussion opened regarding some potential proposals made by All Saint’s Day School concerning a portion of the property.
The Reading Challenge text, Life Together, was disseminated to several vestry members.
The vestry confirmed a work session with Canon Nordwick on May 6 to create a covenant of gospel behavior and vestry guidelines.
The next vestry meeting will be held Wednesday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. All are most cordially invited to attend.
