Sunday morning Bible study is temporarily being replaced by the rector’s forum after the 10:30 service. The Bible study will resume on November 30.
Today: Children’s Worship at 10:30 a.m.—Pre-kindergarten and elementary children worship in an age-appropriate manner in Room A during the Liturgy of the Word, and then return during the Peace so that they can participate in Holy Communion. Parents may accompany their children. The nursery will still be in session, and parents may always keep their children with them in church. Children’s bulletins will continue to be available at the entrance of the church. If you would like to help with Children’s Worship, please contact Jennifer Suttie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 831-521-9654.
Today: Rector’s forum—Enjoy the rector’s Walking the Way forums each Sunday through November 9, with reflections on the sermon and gospel message of the day. Bring your questions and stories. We’ll meet in Grant Hall toward the end of the 10:30 coffee hour.
Monday: Healthy Saints hike at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park—Our 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. outing (bring a picnic lunch) will include an easy and beautiful hike to view McWay Falls, the iconic Big Sur waterfall that drops 80 feet to a deserted beach. We’ll also hike to Partington Cove through an open canyon and then an enclosed tunnel, following an old wagon route to the site of an 1880’s shipping dock. Dogs are not allowed. Please contact Mother Cynthia at 520-260-5158 or email@example.com if you would like to join the group. Next week: Wetlands of Watsonville (October 27).
Monday: vestry meeting—The meeting previously scheduled for October 26 will be held October 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the library.
Monday: Christian yoga—Creating space in the body through breath, movement, and stillness creates space in your heart and life. Join instructor Beth Lefebvre in Seccombe Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. No previous yoga experience is required.
Wednesday: The Bible study group meets in Grant Hall at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday: Learning and Belonging the Episcopal Way—Teachers Al Alvarez, Fr. Rick Matters, Bill Reed, and Claudia Ward offer a series of classes about the Episcopal expression of the Christian faith. Classes are held the five Wednesdays in October, and run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Ask about childcare. These classes can lead to being received or confirmed into the Episcopal Church when Bishop Mary visits on Wednesday, November 4.
Saturday: Memorial Eucharist for Harrison Shields—Join the All Saints’ family in honoring and remembering lector, usher, choir member, and longtime parishioner Harrison Shields at this 2:00 p.m. service.
Next Sunday: vestry report to the congregation—Your vestry will respond to our recent discernment conversations and written input, and will present our next steps for growth in faith, love, and service. The gathering will be held after the 10:30 a.m. service. This vestry report will take the place of the usual rector’s forum, which will resume the following Sunday.
Walking the Way—Join your vestry in praying about your 2015 financial commitment to All Saints’, and plan to present your pledge card on All Saints’ Sunday, November 2.
Enjoy Dinner with Bishop Mary—Spend time with Bishop Mary and help celebrate the commitment of those who are confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. RSVP to save a seat for yourself and your family at the All Saints’ celebration dinner on Tuesday, November 4. The service begins at 5:30 and the dinner at approximately 6:30.
Necrology—It’s time to submit the names of your deceased loved ones for remembrance during the Feast of All Saints/All Souls. Forms are available in the office and the church.
Helping with hospitality—Do you enjoy fellowship in the patio after church? Part of what makes fellowship so enjoyable is the coffee and treats that are provided for us each Sunday by members of our church. However, we are very short-handed in volunteers for this important ministry! The more people we have, the less work for the people who host Sunday after Sunday. Please let Sofia Osborne or Fr. Rick know if you would be able to serve every eight weeks or so. Thank you!
A new church photo directory is coming! The photo directory team will be calling you to confirm your contact information for our new directory. We are adding birthdays so that we can celebrate with each other; if you want your birthday included, we will publish the month and day, but not the year. Our listings will include one photo per household. You are invited to submit a jpeg photo (but no individual photos from multi-person households, please) to firstname.lastname@example.org. We can also take your photo at church. Parish photographers will be available after all three services on November 2 (when we celebrate All Saints) and Nov 16. We expect the new directory will be available on December 7. We look forward to knowing our church family better by seeing photos and having an up-to-date directory!
Sunday handout deadline—To be included in next Sunday’s handout, your announcement must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on the preceding Wednesday. Most special parish events are included in the announcements for three weeks before they occur. Contact Andrea Matters at email@example.com or 624-3090.
