Sunday morning Bible study is temporarily being replaced by the rector’s forum after the 10:30 service. The Bible study will resume on November 30.
Today: Children’s Worship at 10:30 a.m.—Pre-kindergarten and elementary children worship in an age-appropriate manner in Room A during the Liturgy of the Word, and then return during the Peace so that they can participate in Holy Communion. Parents may accompany their children. The nursery will still be in session, and parents may always keep their children with them in church. Children’s bulletins will continue to be available at the entrance of the church. If you would like to help with Children’s Worship, please contact Jennifer Suttie at email@example.com or 831-521-9654.
Monday: Christian yoga—Creating space in the body through breath, movement, and stillness creates space in your heart and life. Join instructor Beth Lefebvre in Seccombe Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. No previous yoga experience is required.
Tuesday: The All Saints’ book group will meet in the library at 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday: “Mindful parenting”—The program begins at 5:30 with supper for parents and children. The children will be able to play together and watch a family movie while parents are learning with Rochelle and Jennifer. Learn about mindfulness and mindful parenting to reduce stress and bring more peace into relationships with children. There will be time to ask questions and share experiences, and an opportunity to practice techniques. Rochelle Hall can be contacted for questions or enrollment at 831-324-4543. The suggested donation is $10 per session. The “Supporting Families” series of classes will run from November 2014 through May 2015, and includes “Mindful Parenting” (November 12 and 19 and December 3); “Strengthening our Ability to Love” ( January 14, 21, and 28); “Listening Skills for Healthy Families” (April 8, 15, and 22); and “Listening to God” (May 6 and 13). Instructors are Rochelle Hall, Jennifer Suttie, Father Rick, and Mother Cynthia.
Wednesday: The Bible study group meets in Grant Hall at 10:30 a.m.
November 16: photos taken for new church directory! Parish photographers will be available after all three services on November 16 to take your picture. You may also submit a jpeg to firstname.lastname@example.org. (but no individual photos from multi-person households, please, as our listings will include one photo per household). The photo directory team will be calling you to confirm your contact information for our new directory. We are adding birthdays so that we can celebrate with each other; if you want your birthday included, we will publish the month and day, but not the year. We expect the new directory to be available on December 7. We look forward to knowing our church family better by seeing photos and having an up-to-date directory!
Healthy Saints hikes—Please contact Mother Cynthia at 520-260-5158 or email@example.com if you would like to join the group. Upcoming destinations include Ford Ord National Monument (Engineer Canyon Loop); Delaveaga Park, Santa Cruz; Jack’s Peak, Monterey (Sage/Madrone/Ceanothus Loop); and Garland Ranch, Carmel Valley (Garzas Canyon and Redwood Trail).
The Craft Faire bake sale is almost here! The November 22 fundraiser benefits the discretionary fund. Whatever your kitchen specialty, you are invited to participate by donating such items as muffins, breads, cookies, cakes, pies, and more. Don’t feel you’re much of a baker? Join the fun by volunteering to staff the sale table for a couple of hours. Please contact Grace Swearingen at 392-0202 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember, all proceeds will help those in need of assistance with such things as prescriptions, utility bills, family emergencies, etc.
The second annual All Saints’ Thanksgiving dinner is coming—We will offer a Eucharist at 10:30 a.m., followed by a shared Thanksgiving dinner at noon, a time to join with friends for a festive meal. Use the sign-up sheet to RSVP. We’re planning an elegant setting with a diverse array of foods, and you’re invited to bring your favorite seasonal dish to share.
Advent crèche display—During the weeks of Advent and Christmas we hope to decorate the nave with nativity sets of all types. Do you have a nativity set, large or small, that you could share for the season? Please unpack it, dust it off, and bring it to church by Sunday, November 30.
Helping with hospitality—Do you enjoy fellowship in the patio after church? Part of what makes fellowship so enjoyable is the coffee and treats that are provided for us each Sunday by members of our church. However, we are very short-handed in volunteers for this important ministry! The more people we have, the less work for the people who host Sunday by Sunday. Please let Sofia Osborne or Fr. Rick know if you would be able to serve every eight weeks or so. Thank you!
Sunday handout deadline—To be included in next Sunday’s handout, your announcement must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on the preceding Wednesday. Most special parish events are included in the announcements for three weeks before they occur. Contact Andrea Matters at email@example.com or 624-3090.
