Today: Sunday morning Bible study is offered each week in the rector’s study from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. We study the lessons appointed for the day.
Today: Children’s Worship at 10:30 a.m.—Pre-kindergarten and elementary children worship in an age-appropriate manner in Room A during the Liturgy of the Word, and then return during the Peace so that they can participate in Holy Communion. Parents may accompany their children. The nursery will still be in session, and parents may always keep their children with them in church. Children’s bulletins are available at the entrance of the church. If you would like to help with Children’s Worship, please contact Jennifer Suttie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 831-521-9654.
Monday: Deadline for Christmas gifts for children—Once again the Outreach Commission is gathering Christmas gifts for the children at Epiphany Church in Marina. Fr. Jon suggests toys, books, or art supplies for children up to age twelve, or gift cards (not to exceed $25), or checks made out to Epiphany, memo “Christmas gifts.” UNWRAPPED items may be placed in the box by the church doors or taken to the church office. Our deadline is Monday, December 15. You may place checks in the collection plates. The joy of children is wonderful to share. At Epiphany, no child is left without a gift. Thanks in advance from the Outreach Commission.
Monday: Prayerful yoga—Creating space in the body through breath, movement, and stillness creates space in your heart and life. Join instructor Beth Lefebvre in Seccombe Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. No previous yoga experience is required.
Wednesday: The Bible study group will resume on January 7 in Grant Hall at 10:30 a.m.
The Friends of St. Benedict will meet this Wednesday, December 17, in the library from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for study and prayer. Our aim is to integrate the wisdom of monastic life and spiritual theology into our everyday lives as Christians. We meet the third Wednesday of every month, and all are welcome.
Advent crèche display—During the weeks of Advent and Christmas we hope to decorate the nave with nativity sets of all types. Do you have a nativity set, large or small, that you could share for the season, or just on Sunday? Please unpack it, dust it off, and bring it to church. Be sure to affix your name in an inconspicuous place.
Next Sunday: Greening of the church—Join hands with others in decorating the church for Christmas, starting at 11:45 a.m. on December 21. Soup and sandwiches will be provided.
Next Sunday: Christmas caroling—You and your family and friends are invited to join us as we carol our way through our neighborhood, accompanied by Carl Sackett on guitar. We’ll meet in Seccombe Hall at 3:00 p.m. on December 21 to get song sheets and practice a bit, and we’ll return in time for the 5:30 Eucharist, for those who wish to attend. No need to RSVP—just come!
Christmas memorials—We welcome your donations to help adorn the church for Christmas. You may use the forms located at the back of the church and in the office, or send instructions along with your check, which must be received by Monday, December 22. The suggested donation is $20. Memorials and thanksgivings will be included in the Christmas bulletins.
Are you wearing your name tag at church each week? Do you need a name tag? Please contact Ray Krise at the office if you need to have one made for you (email@example.com or 831-624-3883, ext. 14).
Office volunteers are currently needed for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This ministry of hospitality involves answering the phone, welcoming and directing those who come to the office, and occasional light clerical tasks (making a phone call, using the copier, etc.) Please contact Ray Krise (firstname.lastname@example.org or 831-624-3883, ext. 14) if you would like to join the team of friendly faces who staff our front desk.
Sunday handout deadline—To be included in next Sunday’s handout, your announcement must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on the preceding Wednesday. Most special parish events are included in the announcements for three weeks before they occur. Contact Andrea Matters at email@example.com or 624-3090.
