This past week, our long time parishioner, Paul Eastman, passed away at the age of 91. For many years Paul faithfully attended Sunday morning Bible study classes with Fr. Matters and for many years he sang in the choir. Paul also was a birder; once a year he would go down to Lake San Antonio to observe the many local birds, especially, the eagles. Each new year he also enlisted the help of friends to start counting birds in their own yards.
To be a birder requires patience and dedication. To be a good musician requires regular practice and diligence. To attend Bible study on a Sunday morning means having the self-discipline to get up earlier than the average bear. Those are wonderful traits we all should have as Christians.
Blessigs on all the Pauls out there who are patiently waiting as we go through the process of seeking a new pastor, who are dedicated to a great future for All Saints’, who are diligent in living out their life in Christ, and who have the self-discipline to show up on Sunday mornings.
Thank you, Paul, for your practice of stability. I will miss seeing you sitting back there on the epistle side of the church about two thirds from the front.
Well done, thou good and faithful servant.…Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
