Dear Friends,

Annual Parish Meeting:  Celebrate All Saints’!

THIS SUNDAY, 31 January, immediately after the 10:30 service, Seccombe Hall:  POTLUCK luncheon and annual meeting.  Do come.  This is the one time of year that the whole parish has an opportunity to meet together. We thank all the many people who have done so much to keep us a vibrant parish.  We will elect new vestry members and thank the outgoing ones.  We also elect parish delegates to the diocesan convention.  It is also a time to ask questions, make suggestions for the upcoming year.  And, for us this year, especially, it will be an opportunity to get to know our pastor, the Rev. Amber Sturgess.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper9 February, 5:30 p.m., Seccombe Hall  Crepes, pancakes, sausage, juice and FUN.  BRING your favorite crepe filling to share.  PREPARE a song, poem, or ?? for our TALENT OPTIONAL part of the evening.  JOIN in the pancake race.

Please sign up to come, to help, to entertain—on the back table in the church.

Prayer Shawl Ministry:  We are trying to start a prayer shawl ministry.  Our first meeting has been delayed until Tuesday, 9 February, Noon to one.  If you knit, crochet or quilt come find out what this is all about.  We will meet in classroom A.  (Claudia, 373-5069) Bring a sack lunch.  We will meet weekly as much as possible.

Ash Wednesday; 10 February. Prepare for a good Lent.  Attend one of our Ash Wednesday services: Noon or 7 pm.  To truly experience a glorious Easter, one must have a good Lenten experience.  Decide on a special Lenten exercise:  give up something bad for you, take on something good for you.

Wednesday Soup Suppers:  Come to the weekly suppers, beginning 16 February.  Our theme this year:  A New Beginning, Discovering Community.  Your vestry will be your host this year, but we still need people to sign up to bring soup, three per week for six weeks. Sign up on the clipboard on the table in the back of the church.  If you need transportation or child care, notify the church office, 624-3883.

Here is one of my favorite mottos:  “It is better to wear out than to rust out.”  Bishop Geo. Horne, 1780-1792.

Peace,
