Would you like to deepen your prayer life? In this one day retreat we will learn about prayer and contemplation and the method of Centering Prayer, “the prayer of the heart,” a form of Western Meditation which is rooted in Jesus’ teachings and widely used for over 1,500 years – sustaining great spiritual masters like Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and Thomas Merton. This ancient discipline has the power to gradually transform and heal our relationship with the Divine, others and ourselves. It’s even been scientifically proven to reduce our susceptibility to stress. Come and experience it yourself!
Tuesday, May 10th: Join the All Saints Book Club on Tuesday, May 10th in the Library at 6:00 pm. We will be discussing Elizabeth Kolbert’s The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History. Join us for discussion and a potluck meal. Bring something to put in a salad or a goodie to share. Contact Kathy Nielsen (email@example.com) to learn more about this group.
There is a need for sleeping bags and windbreak jackets for those in need. Jackets need to be clean and light enough to roll up tightly. Marked containers will be under the tables by the front doors. Thanks from your Outreach Commission. Thanks from those in need.
Opportunities for the good of our Community:
Clerk of the Vestry: Are you good at taking minutes? We need you. This is critical. Please call Ray in the church office for information: 624-3883. This is an important task which will require your time once a month to attend the vestry meeting and write up the minutes afterwards.
Welcome Ministry: We need someone to chair this ministry. We have a real need for greeters at the door and to follow up on new people to the area. This is different than ushering. If you would like to help, talk to Candace or Claudia.
Missing persons! If you notice someone missing in the pew, give them a call. People are bashful; maybe all they need is a ride. This is an opportunity to reach out in community to our members.
Donations for the Food Pantry – The food pantry can use canned meats, tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit or vegetables, and toiletries. Please place donated items in the basket at the entrance to the church to be brought forward at the offertory. Thank you for your generosity towards those in need.
Have you ever wanted to toll the bell? All Saints’ has a great bell; just stand out in front when it is rung! A small contingent of Carmelites is now tolling the bell twelve times at noon each day at All Saints’ and Church of the Wayfarer. They are looking to add a few more people to the list. Would you be interested in signing on to toll the bell one day a week at noon? If so, talk to Ray in the church office. 624-3883
