Would you like to deepen your prayer life?  In this one day retreat we will learn about prayer and contemplation and the method of Centering Prayer, “the prayer of the heart,” a form of Western Meditation which is rooted in Jesus’ teachings and widely used for over 1,500 years – sustaining great spiritual masters like Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and Thomas Merton. This ancient discipline has the power to gradually transform and heal our relationship with the Divine, others and ourselves. It’s even been scientifically proven to reduce our susceptibility to stress. Come and experience it yourself!

Hold the date:  On Saturday, July 2nd, we will have an Independence Day Celebration.  The picnic will be from noon to 4 p.m. on the patio.  Pray for sun!  Meat, beans and salads will be provided (suggested donation $10.00).  Desserts are welcome. Come wave the flag!

Tuesday, July 12th:  Join the All Saints’ Book Club on Tuesday, July 12th in the Library at 6:00 pm.  We will be discussing Sue Monk Kidd’s The Invention of Wings.   Join us for discussion and a potluck meal.   Bring something to put in a salad or a goodie to share.  Contact Kathy Nielsen ( to learn more about this group.

Camping and/or a Barbeque – If you have a yen for the great outdoors, consider camping at our own Santa Lucia Campground in Big Sur between 27 and 31 July.  And if you aren’t up to sleeping under the stars, the whole parish is invited down for a chicken barbeque on the 31st.  Details later.

Get ready for All Saints’ incredible Phantom Ball, an Outreach Commission gala fundraiser.  Plus, you may win a Napa Valley Dream Come True, a remarkable Napa Valley weekend for two for a mere $25.00.  For more information go to our website:

Daily Morning PrayerWelcome Happy Morning!  You are invited to join All Saints’ parishioners every weekday morning from 9.00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for music, prayers, and reflection at Morning Prayer in the All Saints’ Chapel of Saints Benedict and Scholastica (opening onto 9th Street).

There is a need for sleeping bags and windbreak jackets for those in need. Jackets need to be clean and light enough to roll up tightly.   Marked containers will be under the tables by the front doors. Thanks from your Outreach Commission. Thanks from those in need.

Coffee Hour Changes – We have restructured the coffee hour by splitting the work load.  Instead of one person or couple doing everything, we have two sign-up lists: one for just making coffee and the second list for bringing the “goodies”.  No need to prepare a banquet – just a fruit, something sweet (doesn’t have to be homemade) and something savory (e.g., cheese, crackers, chips or veggies.)  Juice is optional.  The coffee hour is a special time for people to linger, get to know new faces and greet our friends.  We really need help and hope this new procedure of splitting the load will encourage you to sign up.  For more information or to sign up contact Izzi Shillinglaw.

Opportunities for the good of our Community:

Missing persons!  If you notice someone missing in the pew, give them a call.  People are bashful; maybe all they need is a ride.  This is an opportunity to reach out in community to our members.

Donations for the Food Pantry – The food pantry can use canned meats, tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit or vegetables, and toiletries.  Please place donated items in the basket at the entrance to the church to be brought forward at the offertory.  Thank you for your generosity towards those in need.

Announcement deadline – To be included in next Sunday’s bulletin, your announcement must be submitted by 11 a.m. on the preceding Wednesday.  Most special parish events are included in the announcements for three weeks before they occur.  Contact Ray Krise in the office at 624-3883, ext. 14 or
