Monday, September 12th – Prayerful Yoga – Creating space in the body through breath, movement, and stillness creates space in your heart and life. Join instructor Beth Lefevre in Seccombe Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. No previous yoga experience is required. Donations go to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund.
Tuesday, September 13: Join the All Saints’ Book Club on Tuesday, September 13th in the Library at 6:00 pm. We will be discussing Eric Larson’s In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin. Join us for discussion and a potluck meal. Wednesday, September 14th – 6:30 p.m. – Seeking God, Seeking Christ: An Invitation to the Spiritual Journey. In September we will offer a six-week spiritual formation class for anyone who would like to attend. Those who are seeking baptism, confirmation, reaffirmation of vows, or membership at All Saints’ will be required to take the class. All are welcome and encouraged to come! The bishop’s visitation will be October 30th. On this spiritual journey we will learn about Anglican spirituality and its roots in the Benedictine way of spiritual practice. A sneak peek of themes includes: “The Invitation to the Journey: Listening for the Call”; “Commitment to Christ: The Path of Stability and Change”; “Trusteeship: Practicing the Presence of God in All of our Affairs”; “Living Together in Community”; “Prayer: The Mortar of Christian Community”‘ and “Finding Balance: Creating a Rule of Life”. Thursday, September 15th at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel: Our Contemplative Prayer Group continues its weekly meetings to practice Centering Prayer. We will begin with a short reading from Fr. Thomas Keating’s book, Open Mind, Open Heart, followed by Centering Prayer meditation, and a short discussion about our practice. Please join us even if you have not attended a workshop.
Icons in Transformation – The Gala Exhibit Opening is going to be here before we know it! Sunday, September 25, 5-8:00 p.m., meet and hear Mila Palowska and meet her husband Jan. See the artwork before the unveiling. Mayor Steve Dallas will cut the ribbon! PLEASE ask your friends to attend. Just think of the fun you could have sharing this event with multiple friends. Plus, they’d get to see our beautiful church.
Volunteer opportunities for Icons in Transformation – We’re still looking for volunteers to assist with the unpacking and unloading of the artwork. We’re also in need of parishioners to entertain Ludmilla and Jan or to take them to fun functions around the peninsula area. They love to get to know the parishioners and the town.
Thursday, September 29th 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church – An Exploration in Group Spiritual Direction: “Orienting to the Journey.” This is an eight-week cohort – gathering in October and November facilitated by Cynthia Wigdahl. Group spiritual direction offers a rich broadening and deepening to spiritual life in community. You will learn to companion others without presupposition, and find mutual encouragement as you witness to the movement of God in the life of the other. Our Memorial Garden Project is well on its way. Be sure to check out its progress whenever you are near the church. Consider buying a brick to commemorate a loved one in your family or reserve one for yourself. This project is being paid for completely with donations. This will be a beautiful meditative spot when completed. Jana Gill is the contact if you have questions.
Daily Morning Prayer – Welcome Happy Morning! You are invited to join All Saints’ parishioners every weekday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for music, prayers, and reflection at Morning Prayer in the All Saints’ Chapel of Saints Benedict and Scholastica (opening onto 9th Street).
Can you help us outfit our Retreat House? At the back of the church you will find a wish list for the cottage, our “new” retreat/guest house. We will be preparing the cottage for our first guest, Ludmila Pawlowska and her husband, in September. If you have any of the furniture items we are seeking or would like to contribute consumables, please write your name next to the item and give the list to an usher. Or, if you need some time, bring it to the church office, or just call, 624-3883. Please include your phone number so we can contact you when we are ready to collect items.
There is a need for sleeping bags and windbreaker jackets for those in need. Jackets need to be clean and light enough to roll up tightly. Marked containers will be under the tables by the front doors. Thanks from your Outreach Commission. Thanks from those in need.
Donations for the Food Pantry – The food pantry can use canned meats, tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit or vegetables, and toiletries. Please place donated items in the basket at the entrance to the church. Thank you for your generosity towards those in need.
