Festa Italiana! – Songs and Dances of Renaissance Italy – June 10, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. Madrigals, part songs, and dances from the 16th and early 17th centuries in Italy, including sacred and secular works by Claudio Monteverdi. Presented by Madregalia!! and the Pastyme Consort. Healing Grief and Loss through the Retelling of Our Stories
Saturday, June 17, 10:00am – 3:00pm, ($25 per person, including lunch)
We are delighted to have Sheila and Bret return to do another workshop with us in June. In this workshop we will learn how to embrace our grief, loss, and shame as a community and also in our individual lives through retelling our stories. If we have not processed our grief as a community, we can often be weighed down by the past. By retelling our stories we can be liberated to see ourselves in a new light and be more fully present in the now and open to future possibilities. The workshop will have a balance of didactic, experiential, and interactive elements. Facilitated by Sheila Rubin, MA, LMFT, a marriage and family therapist and registered drama therapist, and Bret Lyon, PhD, SEP, a teacher of Somatic and Emotional Mindfulness, who holds doctorates in psychology and drama. A Texas barbecue to celebrate our ministry with Rev. Amber and all our staunch Texas friends will be held on Sunday, June 25, after the 10:30 AM service (about 11:30 AM or so). There will be more details as the date draws near, but please put it in your calendars now. Brush off your ten gallon hats and come for some great community fun, enjoy some tasty barbecue and have the opportunity to get to know our Texas community members better.
All Saints’ annual church picnic in Big Sur will be on Sunday, July 30th. The Brittons will be grilling the chicken and the rest of us will bring salads, desserts, drinks, etc. We’ll coordinate all that in mid-July. It is always a fun day, so let’s have a good turnout this year to enjoy our newly cleaned up campground. The river has done some renovations for us, so the sandy beach has moved from the deep swimming hole opposite the camp on the other bank, down to a totally private area near the redwood grove. The old beach is composed completely of large stones now.

Mark your calendars! This fall we are going to be treated to a fabulous organ concert by Clay Couri to introduce our mighty new organ to the community. Clay’s program will encompass music of the 1600’s through the 20th Century. The pieces will be chosen to highlight the huge variety of registration available on our organ. Clay has also arranged for a superb tenor soloist to perform for us. The concert will be at 3 p.m. the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 24. Admission is free; there will be a donation basket. Refreshments will be served following the concert in Seccombe Hall.

The All Saints’ choir is seeking singers. Our faithful little choir could use a few more songbirds from bass to soprano. If you like to sing, please consider joining us. You are welcome to give us a try and see if it suits you. We meet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evenings and 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. Come make a joyful noise unto the Lord with us. The 2017 Altar Flower Calendar has been posted in the back of the church. Almost all dates in 2017 are now available for you to contribute flowers to honor or memorialize a special event or loved one. We ask for a minimum contribution of $65 which is the cost of the flowers. More than one person can sign up for that special Sunday – it is within the rules to have multiple dedications! Please contact Mila Murphy with any questions.
Our Memorial Garden Project has been completed. Consider buying a brick to commemorate a loved one in your family or reserve one for yourself. This is a beautiful meditative spot. Jana Gill is the contact if you have questions.
Donations for the Food Pantry – The food pantry can use canned meats, tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit or vegetables, and toiletries. Please place donated items in the basket at the entrance to the church. Thank you for your generosity towards those in need.
