The altar flowers today are given by Dee Phillips to the Glory of God and in thanksgiving for the many blessings bestowed on the Phillips Family.
There will be an outdoor Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. at our Big Sur Santa Lucia Campground, followed by the annual parish picnic at noon.

Anna and I would like to thank you very much indeed for all your kindness to us through July. We are most grateful for the cottage in this beautiful place and for the opportunity to share in worship with you. Thank you for welcoming us to your church community and to your homes as well. We will take with us great memories of our time with you – please know there is always a welcome in England – we can be contacted via firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Tuesday we go on a road tour of southern California in order to fly home from San Francisco on August 16th via Yosemite, Mono Lake, Joshua Tree, San Diego and Morro Bay. Please pray for safe travel and we shall continue to pray for you with great thanksgiving in our hearts.
Help feed our community’s hungry by filling one of the red bags located under the table at the back of the church. Items that are needed most are printed on the bags. Many thanks from your Outreach Commission who will include your contributions in our daily food bags. Please return bags to the back of the church.
Prayerful Yoga at All Saints’ will take a summertime break. However you may join Beth Lefebvre Tuesday mornings at Yoga Center of Carmel in cottage #18 located on San Carlos at 10th (Sunset Center) – 7:45 and 9:30 a.m. Prayerful Yoga at All Saints’ will resume Monday, September 11th at 5:30 p.m. Contact Beth at 831-595-8502.
The All Saints’ Book Group meets in the Church Library on the second Tuesday of each month. We enjoy a light dinner at 6:00 and then begin our discussion at 6:30. Please bring something to add to the salad or a goodie to share. The August 8th book selection is a mystery, Appointed to Die: A Book of Psalms by Kate Charles. The Bible Study Group will meet on Wednesdays August 9th and 23rd from 10:30 a.m. until noon in the Library.
The theme of the 35th Annual Mary Lou Thompson Retreat is “Art Inspired by Faith.” The retreat leader is the Rev. Penelope Duckworth, artist and writer. August 14-15, 2017 at the St. Francis Retreat Center, San Juan Bautista. The retreat is sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women of El Camino Real. You are invited to participate in the annual PASTA WITH THE PASTORS benefit dinner on Thursday, August 24, at San Carlos Parish Hall, in Monterey – 4:30 – 7:30 PM. Introduction to Centering Prayer
Would you like to deepen your prayer life? In this one day retreat we will learn about prayer and contemplation and the method of Centering Prayer, “the prayer of the heart,” a form of Western Meditation which is rooted in Jesus’ teachings and widely used for over 1,500 years – sustaining great spiritual masters like Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and Thomas Merton. For over 20 years, All Saint’s church has hosted twenty six I-HELP men once a month for dinner and the night. Mark your calendars! This fall we are going to be treated to a fabulous organ concert by Clay Couri to introduce our mighty new organ to the community. Clay’s program will encompass music of the 1600’s through the 20th Century. The pieces will be chosen to highlight the huge variety of registration available on our organ. Clay has also arranged for a superb tenor soloist to perform for us. The concert will be at 3 p.m. the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 24. Admission is free; there will be a donation basket. Refreshments will be served following the concert in Seccombe Hall.

The 2017 Altar Flower Calendar has been posted in the back of the church. Almost all dates in 2017 are now available for you to contribute flowers to honor or memorialize a special event or loved one. We ask for a minimum contribution of $65 which is the cost of the flowers. More than one person can sign up for that special Sunday – it is within the rules to have multiple dedications! Our Memorial Garden Project has been completed. Consider buying a brick to commemorate a loved one in your family or reserve one for yourself. This is a beautiful meditative spot. Jana Gill is the contact if you have questions.
