Putting on the Mind of Christ:
Centering Prayer Meditation Workshop
Saturday, June 9th, 9:30am – 3:30pm.
$25 suggested donation includes lunch.
Even if you have attended a Centering Prayer Meditation workshop before, it’s helpful to attend again to undergird your practice.
In this one day retreat workshop we will learn about the gift of contemplative prayer which is the opening of mind and heart, our whole being, to the presence of God who is the Ultimate Reality and Mystery. The practice of Centering Prayer can lead us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer where the spirit prays within us beyond all words, thoughts, images, and emotions.
Cynthia Bourgeault says that the real work of Centering Prayer is to “lay the inner foundations for an entirely different kind of spiritual attentiveness. . . Centering Prayer opens up “attention of the heart.” It will gradually lead you into a whole new reality, which some have likened to “putting on the mind of Christ.”

Memorial Service for Charles Grauling
A memorial service for Charles Grauling (Nancy Jones’s husband) will be held at the church on Saturday, 16 June, at 1:00, followed by a reception in Seccombe Hall. All are welcome.
Now that Lent is over, beautiful altar flowers can return to the sanctuary. Most of the upcoming Sundays are available for YOU to donate the flowers and make a personal dedication. Please sign up on the calendar on the bulletin board in the back of the church. The minimum contribution is $65, the cost of the flowers. Please contact Mila Murphy with any questions. Also, if Mila has not contacted you regarding your dedication two weeks before your chosen Sunday, please get in touch with her.
Kelsey Davis Called as Diocesan Curator for Emerging Communities
With “great delight,” Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves has announced the calling of Kelsey Davis to be the Curator for Emerging Communities for El Camino Real. She will begin her ministry August 1 in this newly-created diocesan role.
This month Kelsey is completing her Master of Divinity at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee; she previously earned an undergraduate degree in Theology from the University of Portland, Oregon. She gained vital skills for the Curator position during her time at Vanderbilt Divinity School, serving as the Chaplain Assistant for Young Adult Ministry at St. Augustine’s Chapel and School Chapel Intern at Episcopal School of Nashville. She also brings extensive experience as a professional athlete – she was the goalkeeper coach for the US Soccer Youth National Teams and for the Tennessee Soccer Club, among other coaching roles – and has served in various ministry contexts with youth and young adults.
“Throughout my journey…. I have been drawn to various forms of emerging communities, particularly working with youth and young adults,” said Kelsey. “My experience as a lifelong athlete and coach has equipped me with skills for ministry that include: building life-giving and collaborative relationships, leadership development, facilitating culture, managing interpersonal dynamics, recruitment, coaching youth, and grit.”
Kelsey and her wife Heather will arrive in California in mid-July. Join us in prayers of joy and anticipation as Kelsey begins her El Camino Real ministry August 1!
