Did you know that more that 2,300 people in the Monterey area are homeless on any given night? This includes families and children without parents. All Saints’ Church is one of a community of churches providing hunger relief. Small Bites for BIG Hunger helps fund this program.

Small Bites for BIG Hunger is baaaaack Friday, September 22, 5:00-7:30, at Seccombe Hall, Lower Level of All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Lincoln and Ninth entrance, Carmel. Back by popular demand, this important fundraiser will once again raise money to help fight hunger in the area. Feast on a selection of delicious international SMALL BITES (actually medium bites) and drink superb local WINES, while your ticket, silent, and live auction item revenues fight BIG HUNGER. We’re excited to announce that our featured restaurants preparing international cuisine this year are Aabha, Basil, Dametra / Mediterranean, and ROUX / Carmel Valley Chophouse. An additional “small bite” will be provided by  Nothing Bundt CakesPremium wines will be poured by BERNARDUS, IDLE HOUR, MERCY, and VENTANA!

Funds will also be raised through Silent and Live Auctions. Items for bid in the Silent Auction include restaurant and store gift cards, delightful treasures, gift baskets and more. In the Live Auction, experience the opening of the new Ventana Big Sur, and Alila Resort with a 2-night stay, enjoy a wine tasting with local author Hans Lehmann, or relax as you sail the Pacific on a one-of-a-kind racing sailboat with captain Augie Louis, plus a few surprises to be announced later!!

There are 50 silent auction items – wine baskets, English toffees, gift certificates that include restaurants, the Symphony and theater tickets. Did I mention wine and a wine walk? a Refuge Spa package, a golf package, antique christening gowns, silver, and more.

Proceeds from the funds raised during this fun 2017 event will enable All Saints’ Church to:  

  • Address the unexpected, immediate needs of our Big Sur community
  • Continue to provide non-perishable daily food bags to anyone in need, with larger food boxes distributed during the holidays
  • Regular support at Epiphany Lutheran & Episcopal Church in the Marina area; the Thomas Carman Food Pantry and the Marina Senior Market that provides fresh, high-quality produce on a weekly basis
  • Monthly dinners and ongoing support for Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (community I-HELP) guests.
  • And much more! 

Anyone needing a bag of food can drop by All Saints’ Church Monday through Friday 9:00-noon. The food pantry serves hundreds of people – including children, seniors, and whole families. Bags of rice, soups, cereals, peanut butter, beans, fruit, and other nutritious items are purchased with funds from Small Bites for BIG Hunger. In addition, Small Bites supports the Thomas Carmel Food Pantry in Marina and the Food Bank of Monterey County, where a $1 donation provides $7 worth of food distributed locally.
