Installation Roses All Saints' Carmel CA

What a celebratory weekend it was at All Saints’, January 5 and 6.

Everything was coming up roses on Saturday, January 5, at the Installation of our new Rector, The Rev. Amber Sturgess. After serving our community for three years as Priest-in-Charge, Rev. Amber was warmly welcomed to a renewal of ministry by the congregation.

Our beloved Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves presided, reminding us of the journey we have made together these three years. She commended us for working hard, and reminded us that we are called to continual prayer for our Rector, for our community, and for our world.

As a dynamic expression of the life of our parish, more than 30 single red roses and white roses were placed in a beautiful vase, representing the depth and diversity of ministries, partnerships, and community affiliations that represent the work of the people at All Saints’. Our Bishop then placed a Tudor Rose (both red and white petals) in the center, symbolizing the heart of our work together in unity and reconciliation. Even in December, in our garden, a single rose bloomed.

Epiphany Sunday followed on January 6, and the sanctuary was alive with new joy. The night before had opened our eyes and made our hearts ready to see the light of Christ once again, and to receive him anew in our hearts and in our world.

Happy Epiphany!
