  • Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict

Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict

This is a series of gatherings to discuss the book, Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict by Donna Hicks, PhD. The world, as we know it, continues to unravel around us and we wonder what we can do. Donna Hicks' book throws us a lifeline on a stormy sea and teaches us how to change our world by changing ourselves... The late Archbishop Desmond Tutu said, "this book is a must-read for those who want to experience peace in their everyday lives and peace in the world around them... if you want peace, be sure everyone's dignity is intact." Please bring your lunch, and join us for a transformation of the heart that leads to dignity and peace.

  • Centering Prayer

    Centering Prayer

All Saints' Church 9th & Dolores, Carmel, Ca

Centering Prayer, a form of meditative prayer called the “prayer of the heart”, is rooted in the teachings of Jesus and of the Desert Fathers and Mothers of the early church. Through the practice of Centering Prayer we learn how to surrender to love, to abide in divine love, and to enjoy the numerous fruits of the practice: appreciation of silence and solitude, less susceptibility to stress, deeper reverence for the divine in and through nature, willingness and commitment to a life of reconciliation and peace, and longing for and realization of our full union with God, with humanity, and with all life forms on our planet. The practice of Centering Prayer encourages us to cultivate an open mind, heart, and will as we seek spiritual transformation in Christ.

  • Wisdom Days: Contemplative Wisdom Practices

    Wisdom Days: Contemplative Wisdom Practices

Facilitated by Rev. Amber Sturgess & Heather Ruce Contemplative wisdom practices have their origins in the ancient world and come down to us through various traditions such as The Rule of St. Benedict, the wisdom teachings of Jesus, and the Fourth Way work of G.I. Gurdjieff. Cynthia Bourgeault says that wisdom work “comes above ground at times when the planet is going through changes or when consciousness is about to take a major leap to a new place, a new level of understanding.” We invite you to join us for the series of Wisdom Days. The contemplative wisdom practices will consist of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, wisdom teachings from Cynthia Bourgeault on video, conscious labor (physical work), and sacred dance taught by Heather Ruce. Suggested Donation: $35. For more information and to register, please contact Rev. Amber at rector@allsaintscarmel.org
